Please note that while the list below contains 10 entries, we aren’t ranking them. If a game has made it this far, it’s a must-play. As such, we’ll be listing entries in reverse chronological order.

Also, with future updates, you’ll find a rundown of previous entries at the bottom of the list. While those titles have gotten bumped over time, they are still all great games in their own right and worth exploring if you’re already caught up on the latest hits.

Compared to the first Alan Wake game, an action-adventure game with horror themes, Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror game played from a third-person perspective.

Players play as Alan Wake or Saga Anderson in two separate single-player stories, which can be played in any order the player chooses; although the opening and ending sequences can only be played as Saga or Alan, respectively.

In Deathloop, the player takes on the role of Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop who has been tasked to take out eight targets called Visionaries across the island of Blackreef before midnight.

Leaving even one alive will cause the time loop to reset and undo his work.

Players control the special agent Leon S. Kennedy on a mission to rescue the US president’s daughter, Ashley Graham, who has been kidnapped by a religious cult in rural Spain.

Leon fights hordes of enemies infected by a mind-controlling parasite and reunites with the spy Ada Wong.

Returnal is a third-person shooter video game, featuring roguelike elements and falling under the psychological horror genre.

In a futuristic science fiction setting, the player controls Selene Vassos (Jane Perry), a space pilot, equipped with a suit and armed with high-tech weapons, who is stranded on the alien planet Atropos and stuck in a time loop.

After every death, Selene is resurrected, following a pattern of traversing foreign environments and combating extraterrestrial entities with growing visions in an ever-changing world.

5. Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West continues the story of Aloy, a young hunter of the Nora tribe and a clone of the Old World scientist Elisabet Sobeck.

She leads a band of companions on a quest to the frontier region known as the Forbidden West to find the source of a mysterious plague that kills all it infects.

4. Gran Turismo 7

Gran Turismo is a popular racing video game series developed by Polyphony Digital. However, it doesn’t have a single continuous storyline like some other games.

Instead, the main focus of Gran Turismo games is on realistic driving simulation, vehicle customization, and racing various cars on different tracks.

3. God Of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is a third-person action-adventure game. It features an over-the-shoulder player-controlled camera, and the game is presented with no camera cuts or loading screens.

The gameplay is similar to the previous installment, God of War (2018), including being single-player-only. Throughout the game, players battle Norse mythological foes, with more enemy types than in the prior entry, including newer enemies, such as einherjar, wyverns, stalkers, phantoms, human raiders, and many others.

The developers also added more mini-bosses to give the game more variety.

2. Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet And Clank Rift Apart.

The game shares many gameplay similarities with Ratchet & Clank (2016) and other entries in the series.

It retains elements of previous Ratchet & Clank games, such as strafing, gunplay, collection of bolts, automatic weapon and health upgrades, manual Raritanium weapon upgrading, and gadgets. The main playable character is Ratchet.

He is accompanied by his robotic friend and sidekick Clank, who is hung on his back. Additionally, the game has a playable female Lombax named Rivet, as well as a robot similar to Clank, Kit.

The player navigates Ratchet and Rivet through diverse environments across a multitude of levels, defeating enemies with an array of varied weapons and gadgets, and traversing obstacles to complete key mission objectives.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will explore different locations within New York City besides outer Manhattan, such as Queens, Brooklyn, and Coney Island.

Both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are playable as Spider-Men, with a different set of abilities: Peter Parker can use two different suit powers between Iron Arms and Symbiotes to give him abilities that greatly improve his combat prowess and ability to defeat multiple goons at once.

While Miles Morales has unique abilities such as Camouflage invisibility and his venom-blast.

Additionally, the bar-based Focus system returns from the first game, meaning Miles’ Bio Electric Venom Power from his spin-off game is integrated into the L1-based Power Gauge system alongside Peter’s own Power Gauge system.
